Nikko!

We´re now half way through October and a new school term has started, which means new teachers as well as a few new students, which has all been great so far. There´s still one teacher who I haven´t met yet but she´s supposed to be lovely, apart from that we were lucky enough to get my favorite teacher for another 3 months.

The autumn break included a 3 day trip to Nikko with Rin, which was really beautiful,  the picture was taken at a Museum in Nikko, which used to be an old Imperial Villa. The picture itself might not be the best to display the Villa itself but there´s plenty of other photo´s for that:) We stayed at a small hotel named Turtle Inn, which lies right next to the river and also very close to several famous parts of Nikko such as Toshogu which is a world heritage spot. And there´s a great book that I read recently which, while fiction and not directly related to Toshogu, still portrays the world itself and the Tokugawa clan who inhabited Toshogu in a very beautiful way. Which is named The last Concubine by Lesley Downer.

The last day was spent with a trip to Chuzenji, which is a lake that lies in the mountains with a small town right next to it along with a shrine and a waterfall nearby, there´s also the opportunity to climb the mountain if you´re into that. We also bought way too many cheesecakes, but they were really really good so it doesn´t matter. And we found Sparking Wine Jam, which we of course bought and brought with us home, which resulted in me making pancakes:) Apart from that I of course bought some souvenirs, some temple related things, as well as ohashi, power stones, a doll of a geisha along with a some incense and plates.

This picture is not from Nikko, but it is from Tokyo Tower, which we went to last Saturday with a friend of Rin´s who came to Japan for her travels. Who actually wanted to use the stairs… not the elevator, so we ended up taking the stairs from the bottom up to the main observatory place which resulted in a small little “certificate”:)

Everything´s really well and I´ll write more soon since some things have changed, definitely not coming back to Sweden in January.
